Welcome to The Orbit, a space where creatives—new and seasoned ones—come together to connect, learn, and grow. From moments of self-doubt to bursts of inspiration, stepping into this industry was pretty wild. That’s why The Orbit exists: to offer the support I wish I had when I started.
What makes this project so special to me isn’t just the tips or the networking (though those are great). It feels like home—a place where I can share my ideas without overthinking and get feedback without fear, all while being able to grow at my own pace.
Why You Don’t Need a Map for the Unknown
When I started, I thought I needed a perfect roadmap—every step planned out. Spoiler: the creative industry doesn’t work like that. It thrives from making mistakes and embracing the unexpected.
Something this community has helped me realize is, you don’t need to do it alone—plus it's totally fine to experiment and even fail. You’re surrounded by people who’ve been there and can feel your struggle. The path may not be linear, but it’s infinitely richer when you walk it with others.
Mentorship as a Two-Way Street
I didn’t expect to step into a mentoring role so early in my journey—it felt almost ironic. What could I, with all my doubts and limited experience, possibly teach someone else?
Here, mentorship isn’t about hierarchy or seniority. It’s about mutual discovery. I’ve realized that even while guiding someone else, I’m constantly learning—whether it’s a new perspective on a familiar idea or the reminder that creativity is a collaborative dance. Becoming a mentor doesn’t mean you’ve reached the top; it means you’re building a bigger table and inviting others to grow with you.
Feedback Without Fear
Putting your work out there is terrifying. It feels like peeling back a layer of yourself and hoping the world doesn’t crush it. I used to avoid feedback because I thought it was all about pointing out what was wrong—I literally felt attacked.
With The Orbit, we think feedback should be more like a conversation than a critique. We created a space where we don’t just point out flaws; we rather want to shine a light on your strengths and help you amplify them. For me, this shift has been transformative. I no longer fear sharing an idea, no matter how raw it might be. I’ve learned to push boundaries, refine concepts, and recognize that growth often lies in the discomfort of letting others in.
Collaboration = Inspiration
You know that feeling when you’ve been staring at the same idea for so long that you can't even decide anymore if it's perfect or trash? That’s where collaboration comes in.
Sometimes, it’s a fresh perspective straight out of the Instagram comment section; other times, it’s an unexpected idea born from a casual conversation about your favourite show. Creativity doesn’t thrive in a vacuum—it needs interaction, exchange, and, yes, a pinch of chaos.
The Beauty of Slow Growth
The creative world loves to glorify speed. But creativity isn’t a race—it’s about how you prepare for that sprint long before you start running.
Some days, growth looks like completing a project. Other days, it’s just having the courage to open the first tab—it’s a relationship that needs time and care. And in this community, no one’s measuring you against anyone else.
Your Creative Home
The Orbit is a space to explore, learn and grow without judgment. Here, your voice matters. Whether you’re looking for mentorship, craving collaboration, or just seeking a space where your ideas are heard, The Orbit has your back. It’s transformed the way I approach creativity and reminded me that the most important thing isn’t how fast you succeed—it’s how much you grow along the way.
And for you? The Orbit might just be the space you always were looking for.
Catch you next time,
Paula
Beautiful take Paula!
Great post! Thanks for sharing. The part about being fearful of sharing ideas is very relatable. For me, it's gotten easier with time and consistency.
